Alliance Française Kampala is hosting the first Smartphone Film Competition in partnership with the Alliances of Nairobi, Bujumbura and Karthoum’s Institut Français.
The increasing number of affordable smartphones has made it possible to produce high-quality films and visuals.
The Smartphone Film Competition aims to encourage the creation of content shot on smartphones. The objective of this competition is to expose, promote and give a platform to young innovative filmmakers in Uganda and also contribute to growing the art of cinema through the ubiquitous smartphone.
A Jury of professionals from the audiovisual sector will be composed for the selection of the 1st, 2nd winners and the 3rd place will be chosen by the public.
There is no theme for this year’s first edition, but all films will be evaluated according to storytelling, cinematography (lighting/camera angle), film editing, sound, and music.
Selection of films will be screened daily at Alliance Française Kampala on 10th October and Design Hub Kampala on 11 October 2019.
Prizes include smartphones, smartphones lenses, screenings at film festivals and french courses. Contact Gerald Odil
