THE MAIN RESOURCES CENTER FOR FRENCH ALL OVER UGANDA
Located on the ground floor of the building that hosts Alliance Française Kampala, the library is a reading and research space available for members and students of AFK. It is equipped with books for reading (children, young people, and adults) and has a learner’s library corner, a video library composed of DVDs and CDs, a digital corner with PCs and tablets, and access to France 24 giving continuous info in French.
Only members and students are allowed to borrow books (three at a time), for three weeks maximum. A refundable caution of 100.000UGX is to be paid for borrowing a DVD for one week.
HOW TO BECOME A MEMBER?
- Individual subscription: 50.000UGX + 2 passport photos – it allows you to take up to 3 books at a time.
- Student subscription: 40.000UGX + 2 passport photos – it allows you to take up to 3 books at a time.
- Familial subscription: 70.000UGX + 2 passport photos – it allows you to take up to 7 books at a time.
- APFO member subscription: 30.000UGX + 2 passport photos – it allows you to take up to 7 books at a time.
- Public school subscription: 250.000UGX + 2 passport photos – it allows you to take up to 10 books at a time.
- Private and International school subscription: 400.000UGX + 2 passport photos – it allows you to take up to 10 books at a time.
ACTIVITIES
- French Club: each first Saturday of the month, at 2 pm.
- Poetry/Slam workshop: each second Saturday of the month, at 2 pm.
- Tales time: each third Saturday of the month, at 2 pm.
- Board Games: each last Saturday of the month, at 2 pm.
- Café littéraire: once in two months.
- Library open day: once in three months.
