✨AFK x Janzi✨

In order to continue to provide opportunities for artists, despite the current situation, Alliance Française Kampala is pleased to announce a new partnership with the Janzi Extra video series.

Recorded in the Janzi Studio, this series presents emerging Ugandan musicians. The result of a 3-week residency and a collaboration with the Janzi Band, a musician is featured in each video. He performs several personal creations interspersed with interviews allowing a better understanding of his inspirations and his role as an artist.
The Alliance Française is therefore delighted to collaborate with Janzi Extra, which shares the same ambitions and values: to give a maximum of opportunities to emerging artists, in a professional and adapted environment.

The Alliance Française is therefore a partner of this new season which will showcase artists as different as they are talented.
This season will consist of 12 videos, broadcast every Friday at 8pm from 24 September to 10 December.

A big thank you to @JanziBand and @Janzi Extra for their initiatives, and a big thank you to @TotalEnergiesUganda for allowing us to participate in this project.

See you on Friday 24th at 8pm for the release of the first episode, focus on the talented ugandan rapper Keya Nemesis

✨Exhibition - IWANG SAWA by Acaye E. Pamela✨

📅 18/09/2021 - 28/10/2021
⏰ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
📍@Afriartgallery

Iwang Sawa (Alur for: “In the eye of time”) showcases contemporary artworks and installations which are made out of natural fibres like banana fibre, palm leaves, sisal, raffia, stripped sorghum stems and reeds. Iwang Sawa’s narrative is a multi-layered one, involving aspects of making, heritage, time, meaning, purpose and innovation. The artworks in this exhibition are made by at least 30 women from Gulu, Kigorobya, Kyotera, Luwero, Mukono, Kabarole and Kampala in Uganda.

Besides a physical exhibition, Iwang Sawa also features a podcast and documentary series which follows the journey of these re-made, woven artworks from the wetlands, where the materials are sourced, to the gallery.
